Triton Science Olympiad Invitational Academic Honesty Policy

We strive to achieve the highest possible academic integrity and honesty between all our events, teams, and divisions. Below, we will detail our policy to achieve this integrity to ensure that we have an equal playing field for all competitors.

Build and Hybrid Events

For build and hybrid events, the national building policy applies (see: SOINC General Rule 4). Only students of the 15 member team may contribute to the construction of the device. Parents and coaches may guide when necessary, but may not build or construct the device. This policy is equivalent to the "Building and Tools" policy found on soinc.org.

Write It Do It / CAD It

For Write It Do/CAD It, teams will be disqualified if it is determined that cheating has occurred. The writer may not share screenshots or communicate with the CADer in any way, shape, or format during their event.

Resource Policy

All note sheets (events that require 8.5 × 11 inch piece(s) of paper) must be printed out. For these events as well as events that do not require any external resources, event supervisors will keep track of "time out of browser". This applies to both virtual and in-person tournaments.

For virtual tournaments, all event supervisors will be reasonable with "time out of browser", and all disqualifications will be thoroughly reviewed by our scoremasters as well as our appeals and disqualifications team.

Coach Responsibility

Coaches, as well as the competitors, will be responsible for the academic honesty of each competing member of the team(s). Coaches must ensure academic honesty and fairness to the highest extent possible. If a coach is found to encourage academic dishonesty or "cheating", all teams and schools associated with the coach will be disqualified.

Honesty Commitment

Our competition runs on the honesty of all competitors, teams, coaches, event supervisors, and organizers. As such, this is a final reminder to be honest and fair to all teams and all competitors. Do not cheat. Cheating is disrespectful to all competitors, coaches, parents, and the Science Olympiad community.

Consequence: Cheating will result in disqualification from the event and a score of n+2 as the placement for the event.

SOINC Policies

The aforementioned policies fall alongside the SOINC policies presented on their website (https://www.soinc.org/join/policies), including, but not limited to:
